The Leprosy Mission Trust India’s SOAR project organised a prevention of impairment and disability camp for people affected by leprosy, in Kammapuram block of Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu, on February 25.

This documentary is a joint effort by NDTV and TLMTI to demystify leprosy and disseminate the correct information about the disease.

The Leprosy Mission Trust India (TLMTI) is in the process of identifying newer locations for community engagement (community engagement is any process that involves the community in problem-solving or decision-making, and empowers them to make more informed decisions). It identified Loni, a town in Ghaziabad district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, as a place to engage communities and to develop community-level capacity.

Dr Mary Verghese, formerly Deputy Director – Programmes, and later Director – Operations of The Leprosy Mission Trust India was inducted as the sixth Executive Director of the organisation, in an event organised at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, on March 21.

The Rotary Club of Kolkata organised their Annual Endowment Awards Ceremony, on April 19. TLMTI’s Snehalaya in Bankura was awarded the Rotarian Santanu Chatterjee Memorial Award for their work in providing residential care to elderly leprosy patients who have been rejected by their families because of the stigma attached to the disease, in their Snehalaya (Mercy Home).
