About TIHSR

TLM Institute of Health Sciences and Research (TIHSR) is one of the important centres of learning in Purulia, especially for Physiotherapy education, clinical training, research, and innovation. Established by The Leprosy Mission Trust India (TLMTI), a 150-year-old health care organisation, TIHSR provides opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration for knowledge sharing and research.

Affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) Degree is awarded in accordance with students’ capacity to exhibit and meet expectations of the university.

About the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) Program

The undergraduate BPT program at TIHSR is intended to produce highly qualified Physiotherapists. The program is distinguished as a thorough and innovative educational endeavor that equips students for a range of healthcare environments.

Students in the BPT program learn to assess and treat patients with physical disabilities or injuries. The program covers a range of basic subjects — anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise therapy, electrotherapy, etc. and specialized subjects — physiotherapy in orthopaedics, neurology, cardiorespiratory, general medicine & surgical conditions that help students understand how the human body works and how to treat different conditions effectively.

A key feature of BPT is the fact that students get to focus on practical learning and spend time in the labs and clinics to Under the guidance of experienced faculties, they learn how to assess patients with various disorders and disabilities, plan appropriate treatment protocols and treat patients with specialised physiotherapy techniques and equipment.
