General Medicine

General Medicine

Many of the leprosy patients who visit TLMTI hospitals suffer from problems that are related to Type 1 and Type 2 lepra reactions and others suffer from drug reactions. Still, others suffer from physical problems not related to leprosy. These medical conditions may be either chronic or acute, such as hypertension, diabetes and other conditions. The primary treatment for these does not involve surgery. As these services are provided to leprosy patients, others in the community take advantage of the services offered.

Every year, over 88,000 general medical consultations are provided for non-leprosy, general medical conditions. These services are rendered for a fee which helps in the sustainability of the hospitals.
