TLM Regional Vocational Training Centre
ABOUT THE VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE
TLM Vadathorasalur Vocational Training Centre was established in the year 1998.
Danish missionaries started a leprosy home in Vadathorasalur, in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu, in 1916, with an annual grant of Rs 1,200 from Debendernath Mullick, a philanthropist in Kolkata. The Mission to Lepers (now, The Leprosy Mission Trust India) took over the leprosy home in 1925. It was converted into a hospital in 1949.
In the year 1996, The Leprosy Mission Trust India started a mini vocational training centre (VTC) in the hospital premises to provide vocational education to young boys and girls affected by leprosy. In 1998, it grew into a full-fledged VTC providing vocational education to young boys and girls cured of leprosy and whose parents/siblings are affected by leprosy.
