Goodwill gesture of Kolkata Rotarians towards people affected by leprosy

The Rotary Club of Kolkata organised their Annual Endowment Awards Ceremony, on April 19. TLMTI’s Snehalaya in Bankura was awarded the Rotarian Santanu Chatterjee Memorial Award for their work in providing residential care to elderly leprosy patients who have been rejected by their families because of the stigma attached to the disease, in their Snehalaya (Mercy Home).

Three patients of TLMTI Kolkata Hospital were also given awards.

– Nineteen-year-old Jamsed Ali was awarded the Benud Behari Dutt and Kiron Mohini Devi Memorial Endowment. This award will help provide an annual financial support for Jamsed’s medical treatment.

– Twenty-six-year-old Jaba Kisku was awarded the Dhirendra Nath Dutt and Lilabati Dutt Memorial Endowment. This award will help provide an annual financial support for Jaba’s medical treatment.

– Nine-year-old Rupsha Chatterjee was awarded the Madhulika Goenka Scholarship Award. This award was given to support Rupsha’s education till class 12.
