TLMTI’s 2019 Annual Report is out

For the last 146 years, three Ps have defined the existence of The Leprosy Mission Trust India (TLMTI) – people, purpose, and passion. People give purpose, purpose unites and guides, and passion guides! With this theme, we are pleased to present to you The Leprosy Mission Trust India’s Annual Report for 2019, which reflects the progress we’ve made.

We are just humbled… and honoured by this recognition

Today (February 6), the Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, conferred the International Gandhi Award 2019 on The Leprosy Mission Trust India (TLMTI), in recognition of its long-standing work with people affected by leprosy, bringing them healing, social inclusion, and a life of dignity, in a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

World Mental Health Day 2019

The World Mental Health Day is commemorated on 10th of October every year to emphasize the importance of mental health through raising awareness and to advocate against prevailing social stigma faced by persons affected by mental illness and their family members. With one suicide case being reported every 40 seconds across the globe, the theme for this year is aptly on ‘suicide prevention’. Mental health of persons affected by leprosy and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) is yet to become a priority for the national governments and other stakeholders of mental health programmes in NTD endemic countries.

World Photography Day 2019: A documentary photographer tells her experience in working with persons affected by leprosy

On the occasion of World Photography Day (August 19), we spoke to Ms Sarika Gulati (https://www.facebook.com/sarika.shuangren), documentary photographer and an arts-based therapy practitioner on her experience during her assignments in working with The Leprosy Mission Trust India (TLMTI) for documenting the stories of people affected by leprosy and capturing their courage in the face of adversity, through her photographs.

Breaking the barriers, living life to the fullest

Stories of differently-abled persons breaking barriers living life to the fullest is like a breath of fresh air. They rise above the odds and societal mindsets to make their mark.
One such person is Kumari Chouhan from Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, a girl with a left-leg disability. Her father, Gouri Shankar Chouhan is a daily wage labourer and it was beyond his means to take care of the needs of his wife and four children.
