TLM Chandkhuri Hospital

ABOUT THE HOSPITAL

TLM Chandkhuri Hospital was established in the year 1897.

Rev. K.W. Nottrott, an American Evangelical Church missionary built seven thatched houses for leprosy patients who had been driven out of their homes, in 1897. On noticing the plight of those persons, he was filled with compassion and started a famine kitchen to feed all those who were hungry. As more leprosy patients came to him, Rev. Nottrott built a hospital to take care of the critically ill patients. In due course, the Mission to Lepers (now, The Leprosy Mission Trust India) took over the hospital. The old hospital building was replaced by a new hospital in 1995. With the opening of the new building, treatment for non-leprosy patients also started.

The facilities provided by the hospital include out-patient and in-patient services, operating theatre, laboratory service, ECG service, X-ray service, counselling, physiotherapy, pharmacy, MCR protective footwear and artificial limbs.
