Govt of India to implement global best practices for inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities

The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act), which came into force in April 2017 provides various rights and entitlements to persons with disabilities. It mandates, among other things, the Central and state governments to implement global best practices for inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities.

Global Disability Summit 2018: Commitments made by the Govt of India

The Global Disability Summit hosted by the UK Department for International Development (UK DFID), along with the International Disability Alliance, and the Government of Kenya, in London, UK, on July 24, 2018, has resulted in 170 ambitious commitments from all over the world to take action on stigma and discrimination against people with disabilities.
