Want a whole community to thrive? Empower a woman!

SHAHDARA, NEW DELHI: Margaret Thatcher once said, “If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.” This underscores the point that empowering a woman is key to social change.

With this in view, the Community Intervention Unit (CIU) of The Leprosy Mission Trust India’s Shahdara Hospital in New Delhi organised a legal awareness workshop at Tahirpur Ekta Vihar Kusht Ashram in Tahirpur complex, Shahdara, New Delhi, on March 26.

Legal awareness, among others, helps in making people informed about their legal rights and empowers them to take action to protect and promote the right.

Legal professionals working with DSLSA (Delhi State Legal Services Authority) addressed over 40 women affected by leprosy living in the colony, on domestic violence and the legal remedy available to the survivors. They also talked about measures to be taken for women’s safety.
