Govt health workers trained in medical rehabilitation of persons affected by leprosy

Cuddalore (Tamil Nadu): The Leprosy Mission Trust India’s (TLMTI) PARTI project conducted a workshop on rehabilitation in leprosy, for Non-Medical Supervisors (NMS) of the National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) of the Government of India, in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, on April 4.

Mr G. Babu, M.P.T (Ortho), National Training Coordinator (TLMTI), and Mr G. Manivannan, M.O.T (Ortho), Programme Manager, PARTI project, acted as resource persons. A total of 15 Non-Medical Supervisors and Health Inspectors took part in the workshop.

The workshop included interactive discussions, practical demonstrations, and case studies, amongst others. Some of the topics covered were: selection criteria and limitations of reconstructive surgery, pre-operative issues and its management, and neuritis orthotic management – ulnar neuritis splint demonstration.
