Pari is just 11 years old, yet her life has already known deep loss and hardship.

From Saura village in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, Pari is the second of four siblings. She lost her mother in a road accident when she was very young, and later lost her father due to alcohol addiction. Today, Pari lives with her elderly grandmother and studies in Class 5 at a government school, holding on to hope against all odds.

In 2023, Pari’s childhood took another painful turn. When blisters appeared on the fingers of her left hand, she was taken to a government hospital, where she was diagnosed with leprosy. She began MDT treatment for one year, but during the course of treatment, her condition worsened. Her fingers slowly curled into a claw hand, making even simple daily tasks difficult and painful.

Doctors referred Pari to The Leprosy Mission Hospital Naini, where she is now receiving specialized care. With the help of a kind neighbor, Pari reached the hospital and is currently undergoing pre-operative physiotherapy. She will soon need reconstructive surgery to restore the use of her hand.

Even after surgery, Pari will need continued physiotherapy, protective care, and regular follow-up to ensure her hand heals properly and she can return to school with confidence.

Despite everything, Pari dares to dream.
She wants to become a medical professional, inspired by the doctors who now give her hope. Her doctors believe that with timely surgery and proper care, Pari can recover and continue her education.

This isn’t just a medical journey. It’s a journey back to childhood, back to school, and back to hope.
