TLM Shahdara Hospital felicitated as ‘Model Employer’ by the Government of India

NEW DELHI: It’s with great pleasure we inform you that The Leprosy Mission Trust India’s (TLMTI) Shahdara Hospital in New Delhi has been honoured as ‘Model Employer’ by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, in appreciation of its commitment to comply with the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Act to provide social security.

In a function held on the occasion of International Workers’ Day on May 1, at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi, chief guest of the programme, Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, in the presence of Guest of Honour, Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour and Employment, felicitated the hospital by giving away the award.

The event was attended by representatives of International Labour Organization (ILO), Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Ministry of Labour and Employment, among others.

TLM Shahdara Hospital was selected after scrutiny of nominations received from ESI divisions all over India, in the category of workplaces with less than 100 employees. Mr Stephen Levi, Superintendent, TLM Shahdara Hospital received the award on behalf of the hospital.

Employees’ State Insurance is a self-financing social security and health insurance scheme for workers in India. This fund is managed by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) according to rules and regulations stipulated in the ESI Act 1948.
