India bears the world’s highest leprosy burden, with thousands of new cases detected every year. Though leprosy is completely curable, delayed diagnosis often leads to lifelong disabilities, stigma, and exclusion. Poverty, lack of awareness, and social discrimination continue to worsen the impact. Strengthening early detection, access to treatment, rehabilitation, and social inclusion is essential to end transmission and restore dignity. Leprosy affects everyone, even children—like 11-year-old Pari.
Pari is from Saura village in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh. Orphaned at a young age, she lives with her elderly grandmother and studies in Class 5 at a government school. Last year, blisters on her fingers led to a leprosy diagnosis. Despite MDT treatment, she developed a claw hand, making daily tasks difficult. She was referred to The Leprosy Mission Hospital Naini, where she now receives specialised care and pre-operative physiotherapy. Pari dreams of becoming a medical professional, inspired by the doctors restoring her hope and future.

We have 15 hospitals, 3 Clinics , 7 Vocational Training Centres, 4 Care Homes for elderlies, several Community programmes and Livelihood initiatives.
We are present in 22 districts including two Aspirational Districts: Muzaffarpur and Vizianagram. The states are: Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
