Our Partnership With NLEP
The Leprosy Mission Trust India (TLMTI)—under the guidance of the Central Leprosy Division, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW)—has joined the government’s initiative to accelerate leprosy eradication efforts in high-endemic districts. Out of the 121 high-priority districts that the MoHFW identified across 14 states and UTs due to their high leprosy prevalence rate (PR) (> 1 per 10,000 population), TLMTI has adopted nine districts in states where it operates.
| State | Districts adopted |
|---|---|
| Chhattisgarh | Mungeli |
| Chhattisgarh | Sakti |
| Chhattisgarh | Sarangarh |
| Andhra Pradesh | Vizianagaram |
| Maharashtra | Amravati |
| Maharashtra | Chandrapur |
| Maharashtra | Raigad |
| West Bengal | Purulia |
| Delhi | Shahdara |
TLMTI will focus on community sensitisation, early diagnosis, prompt and complete treatment and contact tracing to reduce transmission, which is an important objective of the National Strategic Plan & Roadmap for Leprosy 2023-27. Through its different programmes (healthcare, research, training, communications), TLMTI will work towards stronger programme monitoring and evaluation, accelerated case detection, delivery of comprehensive leprosy services, and of course, prevention of disease, disabilities, discrimination, and human rights violations.
It is a privilege for TLMTI to be chosen as a partner for this historic initiative that will give the organisation an opportunity to work in alignment with the government’s vision of India free of leprosy.
